About Projection Design
The projection of "Break & Break!" reorganizes many of the choreographer Chou Shu-Yi's video diaries. After classifying and editing, the projection and the object are metaphorically connected, giving a new texture of display and turning the ruins into a new performance space. And with the dancer's figure in the image, the illusion and the scene are stacked. The huge projection contrasts the insignificance of the physical body, presenting the choreographer's experience of struggling with life. This work attempts to communicate between the usefulness/uselessness of Human Beings in urban space and social space.
”Break & Break!” looks into the situation of stagnancy or uselessness faced in our life, as well as the demolition or ruin after a place confronting unavoidable changes. It talks about urbanization, ignored places or marginalized communities.
At first, we will see the connection between the image and environment.
The shadow of the audience also becomes part of the projection.
The fusion of different building materials and projection.
The flow of images between the subject and the object leads the audience to change their viewing.
Use the projection to transform the texture of the body when the dancer performs.
According to the background of different places, different connections will be created.
The stacking of the dancer's shadow, scene and projection creates illusion.
